See if you can check the arithmetic questions! I did (sad but true) and they were all correct.

1870   Christmas work for upper school

1. To print, with taste and design - A Happy New Year to You.

2. To write a letter - reviewing the past and looking forward to the  future.

3. To write and learn 24 and 28 mult n tables.

4. To draw any map you like.

5. To write out, in your best handwriting, any piece of poetry, not less than 20 lines and say it by heart.

6.  Work these sums.

lb 
= pounds weight.
  cwt = hundredweight or 112 pounds.

  in the answer to question 6c is three farthings and three quarters of a farthing. A farthing is a quarter of a penny.
